Obedience training is one of the best things you can do for your dog or puppy and yourself. Obedience training doesn't solve all behavior problems, but it is the foundation for solving just about any problem. Training opens up a line of communication between you and your dog. Effective communication is necessary to instruct your dog about what you want him or her to do.

Why should your dog learn obedience?

· SAFETY- Have control over your dog at all times. No running out the door and into the street. No jumping the fence and running through the neighborhood. No running away and being lost for days. Injuries from fights or intolerant neighbors. Dog training is essential for your K9’s safety.

· BEHAVIOR PROBLEMS- Control the majority of behavior problems with obedience training, including aggressive behavior, destroying property inside and out. Jumping on guests. Getting into the trash. Jumping on the furniture. Chewing, barking, digging, and any other behavior problems. The base for solving most problems is dog training in obedience.

· A HAPPY PET- A dog with obedience dog training is content. A dog with obedience dog training is self confident. A dog with obedience dog training is eager to please and satisfied. A dog with obedience dog training is not fearful. A dog with obedience dog training is social. Dog training is essential for this.

· A FOUNDATION- With obedience dog training you build a foundation for higher levels of dog training. Teach your dog tricks; enter competitions for obedience, shows, hunting, field trials, dog clubs and organizations. Dog training in obedience is where it starts.

Elvis searching "missing" people 2004

Searching involves air scenting to locate a missing person. This is opposed to tracking where the dog's head is low, near the ground, following the scent left by a person's footprints. The handler must pay close attention to wind direction when searching. Scent from a lost person or article will be carried to the dog by the wind. Therefore, it is beneficial for the dog/handler team to work into the wind.

Searching involves air scenting to locate three concealed persons in a rural environment. The dog shall indicate the persons either by barking or by returning to the handler and then leading him to the concealed person.
